These culottes for girls were dedicated to Billie Jean King. On September 20, 1973, the famous tennis match between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs took place. A match that became the most famous „war of the sexes” on the court, which changed the perception of women’s tennis. Tennis matches in which women competed against men have been held before. The showdown between 29-year-old Billie, a multiple Wimbledon triumph winner, and 55-year-old Bobby Riggs, repeatedly recognized as the best tennis player in the world, however, has attracted a great deal of interest, and that’s because Bobby Riggs, challenged Billie to a duel by proclaiming that the women’s game is no match for the men’s, and that he would be able to win against any woman despite his age. Billie has fought for years for women’s rights on the court, including the right to equal pay, so she took up the challenge thrown her way all the more. At stake in the match was a prize of $100,000. It was broadcast in the best antenna band. It was watched by some 90 million viewers. King was the undisputed winner of the clash, winning in three sets.
